West Indies dominated Afghanistan in their last Group C match in T20 World Cup 2024. They won all of their 4 group matches and ended as toppers of the Group. WI team is looking to win this World Cup as host on their home ground. Their team seems to have come together as an unit in this match. Mainly, Nicholas Pooran shone with bat in this match.

Going into the details, Afghanistan won the toss and elected to field first. West Indies opener Johnson Charles scored 43 runs from 27 balls and gave a great start. Nicholas Pooran came to crease at No.3 and continued to bat till the last over missing out on his well-deserved century by a whiscker. He scored 98 runs from 53 balls setting up big total for his team.

Shai Hope(25) and Rovman Powell(26) assisted him and West Indies scored huge 218/5 in their 20 overs. None of the Afghan bowlers could leave an impact. In the chase, Afghanistan lost their big opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz for a duck. As WI bowlers did not let Afghan batters to score they bowled them out for 114 in 16.2 overs.

Ibrahim Zadran(38) and Azmatullah Omarzai(23) tried their best but could not really push their team to a win. Obed McCoy(3/14), Akeal Hosein(2/21), Gudakesh Motie(2/28) took wickets for West Indies. The Caribbean team won the match by huge 104 runs. WI easily dominated Afghanistan and they are into Super 8 topping their Group.
