T20 World Cup 2024: Warner and Stoinis shine for Australia

Australia saw Marcus Stoinis and Warner shine with bat

Australia have started their T20 World Cup 2024 campaign against Oman at Bridgetown with a big win. Aus needed their openers and middle order to fire in this match preparing them against even tougher opponents. David Warner, the legendary hard-hitting opener, did not look in form in IPL 2024 and he needed to fire big. He struggled yet scored 56 runs from 51 balls.

On the other hand, big hitting all-rounder Marcus Stoinis gave the team a huge finish to score 164/5 in their 20 Overs. Going into the details, Oman won the toss and elected to field first. Australia batters struggled to score freely. IPL sensation Travis Head(12) did not give a big start. Mitchell Marsh scored only 14 runs from 21 balls and Glenn Maxwell got out for first ball duck.

He scored 67 runs from 36 balls and Tim David also gave some necessary momentum. Aus scored 164/5 and Oman batters looked under pressure in the chase. Mitchell Starc removed Pratik Athavale in the first over, itself.

Ayaan Khan(36), Mehran Khan(27) could only score against Australian bowlers. Marcus Stoinis(3/19), Mitchell Starc(2/20), Adam Zampa(2/24) and Nathan Ellis(2/28) kept Oman restricted to 125/9 in their 20 overs. Australia won the match by 39 runs and Marcus Stoinis won Player of the Match award. While Starc and Stoinis starred Aus would be worried about Marsh and Maxwell form.
