USA riled up South Africa in a spirited run chase

South Africa struggled after scoring huge score against USA in their Group 2 match in Super Eights of T20 World Cup 2024. Opener Quinton de Kock starred in this match for SA but USA batters have put on a spirited fight in the chase. They almost pulled off an upset to further their course in this World Cup to Semi-finals. Entire cricketing community appreciated their spirit.

Going into the details, USA won the toss and elected to field first. Quinton de Kock took on inexperienced US bowlers as captain Aiden Markram aided him in this task. They both have put on 110 runs for second wicket. Quinton de Kock got out after scoring 74 runs from 40 balls but he looked set for a century. Aiden Markram fell immediately after scoring 46 runs.

Heinrich Klaasen(36) and Tristan Stubbs(20) took them over 190. South Africa finished their innings with 194/4 while Quinton looked like taking them over 220. Saurabh Netravalkar(2/21) and Harmeet Singh(2/24) once again starred with ball for USA.

In the chase, Opener Andries Gous carried his bat throughout the innings for USA. Other opener Steven Taylor stunned South Africa bowlers with 24 from 14. Other batters could not help Gous until Harmeet Singh came across and scored 38 runs from 22 balls. Gous ended up staying undefeated with 80 runs from 47 balls putting a valiant effort for his team.

South Africa won their first Super Eight match with great difficulty against a team like USA by 18 runs. USA scored 176/6 in their 20 overs giving a tough competition to SA. Kagiso Rabada(3/18) shone with the ball for SA team. They will next play England and West Indies, who look even tougher to beat.
