Australia thrash Bangladesh in Super Eight clash

Australia once again proved to be in great form even in Super Eights of T20 World Cup 2024. They thrashed Bangladesh in a rain hit match in a strong performance with bat and ball. Pat Cummins took a hat-trick in the match further restricting Bangla boys to a low score.

Going into the details, Australia won the toss and elected to field first. Mitchell Starc took first wicket in the first over and Aussies looked pumped up. Except for Najmul Shanto(41) and Towhid Hridoy(40) every batter failed. Bangladesh scored 140/8 in their 20 overs.

Pat Cummins with a hat-trick did not let Bangla boys get any momentum to finish the innings. He took two wickets in 18th over (17.5, 17.6 balls) and then third wicket in last over (19.1 ball). In the chase, Australia openers have put on 65 runs partnership in 6.5 overs.

After Travis Head(31) got out, Mitchell Marsh(1) failed to assist David Warner. By the time rain hit the match, Australia scored 100/2 in 11.2 overs with Warner on 53 and Maxwell on 14. With rain making further play impossible, Aus won the match by 28 runs through DLS method.
