India has joined Australia, South Africa among the teams in Super 8 from Group A. While Australia qualified after their thumping victory against Namibia in Group B, Indian team joined them after winning against USA. But USA team won the hearts once again by making it tough for Indian team even though India won by 7 wickets.
Going into the details, India won the toss and elected to field first. USA Captain Monank Patel had to sit out due to shoulder injury and Aaron Jones captained them in his absence. Nitish Kumar(27), Steven Taylor(24) helped USA recover after 3/2 start in the first over bowled by Arshdeep Singh. With some good blows here and there, USA scored 110/8 in their 20 overs.
Arshdeep Singh bowled brilliant spell taking 4/9 in his 4 overs. Interestingly, Jaspirt Bumrah had a off day and gave away 25 runs. Hardik Pandya returned with 2/14 and Axar Patel with 1/25, bowling figures. In the chase, India lost Virat Kohli for a first ball duck to Saurabh Netravalkar. Rohit Sharma(3) also fell for Saurabh and team looked under pressure.
Rishabh Pant(18) kept innings going with Suryakumar Yadav. After Pant got out, Shivam Dube(31) joined SKY and both of them took India to winning shores. Suryakumar Yadav scored 50 runs from 49 balls in this Indian win. Interestingly, Indian team got 5 penalty runs against USA as US delayed bowling their overs by 1 minute each thrice. Arshdeep Singh won Player of the Match award.
