Sri Lankan Women team showed fighting spirit during the first ODI even though they couldn’t cross 171 runs threshold. India lost 6 wickets in the chase and there have been signs of Indian batters taking it too easy against Sri Lankan bowlers.
But the second match can be described as the perfect one for Indian Women. Renuka Singh took three early wickets in first ten overs and broke the backbone of Sri Lankan team. Further Meghana Singh and Deepti Sharma picked up 2 wickets each while Kavisha Dilhari and Anushka Sanjeewani got run out.
Shefali Varma and Smriti Mandhana did not let Sri Lankan bowlers to settle into a rhythm. Varma blasted 71 runs off 71 balls while Smriti showcased her class in unbeaten 94 runs off 83 balls innings. Indian Women won the match by ten wickets chasing 174 in 25.4 overs.
Both the openers never let bowlers bowl to them rather made them alter their lines by innovating and coming down the track. Renuka Singh has been named as Player of the Match for her bowling performance. India won the series with one match to be still played.
