Nation mourns the demise of Pandit Shivkumar Sharma

Santoor Maestro and Padma Bhusan awardee Pandit Shivkumar Sharma passed away at 84, on 10th May. The reason for his demise is noted to be cardiac arrest and the great artiste has been suffering through Kidney ailments from past few months.

He formed great music duo with Flutist Hariprasad Chaurasia as Shiv-Hari and composed music for timeless classics like Silsila, Chandni, Lamhe, Darr and many more. In 1967, they recorded their first album, Call of the Valley, along with guitarist Brij Bhushan Kabra and it became hugely popular.

Nation mourned the demise of such a great man and right from President Ramnath Kovind to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to many politicians and music Industry celebrities, Indian Cinema celebrities extended to their condolences to the family and remarked what a great musician Shivkumar Sharma was.

We wish his family finds strength to cope up with his absence and Indian music Industry will try to carry forward his legacy.
