Kajal Aggarwal joined the list of actresses who dived into lady centric cop movies in Telugu Cinema. With a slick screenplay and promise of new-age filmmakers bringing something fresh to the cop stories with a female lead, Satyabhama released on 7th June. Could Kajal Aggarwal carry off this cop role? Let’s discuss about the film in detail.

Plot:
Satyabhama(Kajal Aggarwal), an ACP heading SHE Teams, prioritises duty above her personal life. Her husband, an author(Naveen Chandra) talks about how Satyabhama decided to win a war without a weapon to his readers.

He narrates that she encountered Haseena, a woman who constantly gets abused and harrassed by her drug addict husband, Yedhu.

She challenges Yedhu to touch Haseena, after she took her complaint. He gets enraged under drug influence and kills her in front of Satya despite knowing her being pregnant.

Analysis::
Kajal Aggarwal looks did not really help her in carrying off a dynamic cop role. The side-locks hairstyle and make up did not suit her too. Still, she tried her best to carry off the role. To an extent, she did carry off action sequences as cop Satyabhama.

Makers under-utilised Prakash Raj, Naveen Chandra, Harsha kind of actors. While their characters did have some meat, writing did not really work after a decent start. The sluggish narrative dampens the proceedings as the investigation becomes repetitive after a point.

Even background score doesn’t really add any impact to the scenes on the screen. Satyabhama could have been a really good cop investigating drama like HIT series films. But it just fizzles out after a good start and ends up being a forgettable narrative.

Positives:
Kajal Aggarwal’s performance
Few investigation scenes

Negatives::
Weak writing
Sluggish narrative
Impact less direction

Satyabhama Movie Bottom-line: Very weak thriller
