Matthew Wade finishes off SL in second T20I

Matthew Wade completed a series win in the second T20I against a much improved bowling performance by Sri Lanka. Charith Asalanka bowled a matured spell not allowing Australian batsmen to score off him. He ended up with figures 3-0-7-0. He bowled maximum number of dot balls.

Wanindu Hasaranga took 4 wickets by giving away just 33 runs in 4 overs. Maheesh Theekshana gave away only 29 runs and Chameera gave away just 31 runs from their 4 overs each. Thusara Nuwan gave away 18 from 2 overs, Gunathhilaka gave away 8 from his one over.

They tried to defend 125 runs target and Australian batsmen started off with a blistering 64 from 6 overs. David Warner and Aaron Finch scored 21 off 10 and 24 off 13, respectively, to carry forward from where they left off in last match. Finch got out in the third over and Warner got run out in 7th over. Steven Smith and Mitchell Marsh got out cheaply. Maxwell played a 19 balls 19 runs innings without any boundaries. Even Wade found it difficult to find boundaries. But the blistering start helped him to win it.

Asalanka and Mendis scored above 30’s and tried to stitch a partnership but failed to score more than 130 runs as others failed collectively. Sri Lanka lost their T20I series with Australia but they will hope to give better fight in the third and final T20I on 11th June.
