Malayalam film ‘Hridayam’ receives critical acclaim

‘Hridayam’ (Malayalam), which was in the making for a long period of time, hit the cinemas this Friday (January 21). A few screens in Hyderabad are playing it with English subs.

Going by the reviews in mainstream media and social media traction that the coming-of-age drama is getting, the film has hit home. Written and directed by Vineeth Sreenivasan, it is headlined by Pranav Mohanlal, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Darshana Rajendran and others.

A Times Of India review says that ‘Hridayam’ portrays a realistic, coming-of-age depiction of a Malayali’s campus life in Chennai. A Quint review observes, “Vineeth Sreenivasan goes into familiar territory with Hridayam and he has got most of the elements right, including the casting.”

At about 171 minutes long, the romantic drama is the comeback film of Merryland Studio, a marquee studio in Mollywood.
