There have been speculations about his involvement with CSK next season due to unfollow controversy.

On Saturday, 14th of May, Ambati Rayudu suddenly issued a statement on his social media handle on Twitter that he is going retire from IPL and 2022 season will be his last. Later, he deleted the tweet. CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan issued clarity over the issue and stated that Ambati Rayudu will continue to represent them in 2023 season also and he is not retiring. He opined that Rayudu is impulsive and extremely dissatisfied with his performance this season and hence he made such statement, which on his advice, the cricketer reversed. Earlier, Rayudu retired from International Cricket upon not being selected to Indian National team for cricket World Cup 2019 and then revised to represent India.
