The BCCI will postpone the IPL mega auction 2022 which was scheduled on 12th and 13th February in Bengaluru. This postponement is inevitable if the issue with CVC hasn’t been sorted out.
It was known that CVC bought the Ahmedabad franchise. The BCCI formed a committee over the allegations of CVC’ links with online betting and gambling companies. Everything was cleared but the time was lagging from the legal end. As quoted by Cricbuzz, ” The protracted delay is only because of the efforts from the legal luminaries to find the right wordings for the fine print of the agreement and the broad consensus is understood to have been reached already. While there is an acknowledgement from all concerned that the issue is taking too much time, it is believed that the delay cannot be avoided.”
If it takes more time, BCCI postpones the auction for a week or over ten days. The new franchises Lucknow and Ahemdabad will be given over 15 days to sign the players once the CVC issue is solved.
Due to the rise of Covid cases, BCCI is likely to change the venue of the IPL Mega auction from Bengaluru.
