Indian Premiere League Broadcast Rights have created huge buzz across the Internet. People have been talking about the amount that BCCI has been quoting for each match telecast on TV and on Digital platforms. Now, the latest update from e-auction is that each match broadcast rights have gone to Rs. 105 crores.
TV telecast rights have gone to Rs. 23,575 crores for next cycle of 5 years and Digital rights have gone to Rs. 20,500 crores. Who bid such huge amounts haven’t been revealed yet by the IPL auction committee.
This joins IPL among the richest leagues in the World and no other cricket league can even imagine these kind of rates for broadcast rights. BCCI through IPL has earned Rs. 44,075 crores by selling the media rights for 2023-2027 cycle.
The buzz is that Viacom18 (Reliance Jio) won the Digital rights under Package B and Sony won the TV broadcast rights. But if people also say it could again be Disney Hotstar who managed to bid the highest for TV rights. We have to wait for the official confirmation from IPL authorities.
