IPL 2022: SRH disappoints its fans again

IPL is one tournament that never seizes to excite the fans around the world. Teams that are least expected to perform well can pull out the rabbit under the hat and the consistent performers could fall flat.

This 2022 season has been a mixed bag of fortunes for Sunrisers Hyderabad. While they started with two losses, the team changed their course and won 5 on trot. They have lost consequent 5 games to follow it up and are now looking at improbable qualification chances. The team that looked like definite qualifier in the middle of the season, lost its way and never looked like coming back into reckoning.

The problem with the team is its composition and dependence on inconsistent performers like Nicolas Pooran and Aiden Markram in middle order. The top order consistent performer Kane Williamson, who is referred to as Hyderabad fans as “Kane Mama”, also failed this season alike Eoin Morgan for Kolkata Knight Riders.

SRH’s most consistent batsmen David Warner and Johnny Bairstow had been left out of the squad by the team and that is costing them big time. While bowling has always been the franchise’s strength, batting has been dependent on the above mentioned two and Kane Mama. Youngsters like Abhishek Sharma, Umran Mallik are playing well but their consistency has come under the scanner.

Even captaincy tactics by Kane Williamson did not really help the team at crucial junctures. Rahul Tripathi who sent IPL on fire for KKR last season has been unable to find a rhythm in this team. Fans are highly disappointed with the performance and the team needs to at least win next two games to end the season on a high. They are playing Mumbai Indians on 17th May and fans hope for a good performance. Let’s hope team will deliver.
