Indian Weightlifter Sanket Sargar wins Silver medal

India’s first Medal at Commonwealth Games, Birmingham, 2022 have been started and Indian Athletes are finding their level best to win medals. Swimmer Srihari Nataraj and Table Tennis team have given a hope for Indian contingent to perform better.

India has been aiming for medals in Badminton, Shooting and Weightlifting along with Cricket, Hockey. Indian Weightlifter, Sanket Mahadev Sargar won Silver Medal in 55kgs category weightlifting championship by lifting 248kgs with 135kgs in Clean and Jerk, 113kgs in Snatch. Had he could lift 139kgs in Clean and Jerk, he would have won the Gold medal.

With just one kg weight difference, Bin Mohammad of Malaysia won the gold while Sanket won Silver medal. He expressed his happiness in being able to perform at the Commonwealth Games as per the expectations.

Another Weightlifter, Gururaja Poojary won Bronze Medal in 61kgs category at CWG. He lifted 269kgs weight to win the bronze. This is India’s second medal in the competition.

While the Athletes haven’t been able to perform better than previous competitions, Boxers, Weightlifters, Shooters, Archers and Wrestlers, Badminton, Table Tennis players are expected to perform better.
