Indian Badminton team creates history at Thomas Cup

Indian Badminton Team has created history by entering into finals of Thomas Cup. Thomas and Uber Cup is the most prestigious tournament in Badminton. The 2022 edition is being held in Thailand and India won against Denmark thanks to lion hearted effort of Prannoy Kumar.

Indian team never crossed Semi-Finals stage since 1979 and this is historical for Badminton players from India. The team will battle against Indonesia for Gold and this will be first time in 43 years that an Indian team is winning some medal in Thomas Cup.

Prannoy Kumar’s effort to win the game for India despite ankle injury will be an inspiring performance for youngsters who closely follow sports. He lost the first set due to the restricted moments on the court and won the second set, third set with stunning resilience and attacking game. He won against Rusmus Gemke with a score line 13-21, 21-9, 21-12.

Before his decisive single, Kidambi Srikanth won his duel against Anders Antonsen with a score line 21-18, 12-21, 21-15 and doubles partners Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty won their matches to keep India in hunt. On Sunday, India is going to fight Indonesia for the Gold and fans hope Prannoy Kumar will be fit and available for the historic duel.
