India again batted first in the third T20 after giving South Africa 211 and 148 targets, respectively. But this time, Ruturaj Gaikwad came good and he seemed to be set for scoring a century. Even Ishan Kishan seemed to be set for scoring faster and as higher as first game. But their almost century stand awas broken by Keshav Maharaj. Ruturaj got out for lightening fast 57(35).
Ishan Kishan carried on with Shreyas Iyer and India seemed to be set for 200 plus score. But lost Iyer and Kishan quickly and scoring rate came down drastically. Finally, Hardik Pandya took care of the scoring in final overs to give India 179/5 score. Kishan 54(35), Hardik Pandya 31(21) managed to not let Ruturaj Gaikwad’s start go to waste. Dinesh Karthik, Rishabh Pant failed this time.
Bowling was started by Bhuvaneshwar Kumar with great swing bowling. He restricted the openers and Avesh Khan seemed to leak runs. Axar Patel got the first wicket of Temba Bavuma and Harshal Patel got set Reeza Hendricks. South Africa were never let to settle down and put up a partnership.
Chahal bowled well this match and got 3/20. Harshal Patel took 4/25. Bhuvaneshwar Kumar ended up with 1/21 but he has to be rated as the pick of the bowlers. Chahal removed all problematic batsmen in Dwaine Pretorius, Henrich Klaasen, Rassie van der Dussen and Harshal Patel got rid off David Miller.
Well, as a team has come good except for two or three bad performances. Captain Rishabh Pant needs to find form and Avesh Khan, Harshal Patel, Yuzvendra Chahal needs to be consistent from here on. India could draw first blood after being hammered twice. SA still leads with 2-1.
