Eknath Shinde and Uddhav look to tighten their grip

Eknath Shinde has rebelled against Uddhav Thackeray, Maharashtra CM and Shivsena President. Shinde announced that they have the majority support and a total of 40 MLAs including some ministers in the cabinet have gone into Shinde’s rebel camp. They have submitted to Speaker that they should be recognized as Shivsena representatives in the Assembly and as Uddhav camp lacks majority, they should be not considered as part of Maha Vikas Aghadi.

Uddhav Thackeray on the other hand has been sending messages to MLAs and even his wife Rashmi Thackeray started campaigning for him. She started meeting families of MLAs to convince them to continue in the government. Shine submitted his letter to Governor and Speaker stating that he, his group of MLAs don’t want to be part of Maha Vikas Aghadi and they have withdrawn their support.

As Maha Vikas Aghadi is in minority, they cannot continue in the government. But Deputy Speaker did not accept No Confidence Motion submitted by Shinde group and even asked the MLAs to give their clarifications, answers for going against the party whip notice. Uddhav Thackeray denounced Eknath Shinde as Leader of the Shivsena in Assembly too.

Eknath Shinde went to Supreme Court about this and said that Uddhav Thackeray can no longer continue in the government as they have the majority. He asked Supreme Court to direct the Speaker to recognize them as the true majority and official Shivsena representatives.

Supreme Court gave time till 12th July, 5:30 PM for Rebel MLAs camp MLAs, 39 in number to give their clarification on paper about No confidence in Uddhav Thackeray’s government and Maha Vikas Aghadi to Speaker and Court. Until then, they have directed Maharashtra government to give protection to all rebel group MLAs families.

Saamana paper belonging to Shivsena said that Eknath Shinde and BJP have planned this coup and offered Rs. 50 crores to each MLA. The paper alleged that BJP wants to form government and hence, they have took this back door. They even called the rebel group as backstabbers.
