Cricket News Roundup: SL won against BAN

Sri Lanka won against Bangladesh in their second test at Mirpur and even the series by 1-0. Asitha Fernando took his first 5-for and commanded the collapse of Bangladesh. He became the only SL pacer to take 10 wickets in a match other than Chaminda Vaas. He registered 6/51 and 4/93 figures in second innings and first innings, respectively.

Fernando removed set Shakib-al-Hasan and Litton Das in the second session after both scored fifties. Shakib scored a blistering 58 from 72 balls and looked like putting up a show for BAN to push for a draw. But Fernando removed him and Litton Das to start a tail end collapse. SL chased down 29 runs in 3 overs and won by 10 wickets.

In Women’s T20 Challenge, Velocity lost to Trailblazers but still managed to enter finals against Supernovas due to better NRR. Jemimah Rodrigues and S Meghana have put up 113 run partnership for second wicket for Trailblazers to score 190 runs in their allotted 20 overs. Meghana scored 73 and Rodrigues 66. Captain Smriti Mandhana failed to score. Kiran Navgire scored 69 off 34 balls for Velocity which propelled their NRR and sent them into final. Trailblazers won the match by 16 runs.

Elsewhere, Vitality T20 blast started in UK and a total of 18 teams will fight it out divided into 9 teams in North group and 9 teams in South Group. The tournament final is scheduled for 16th July.
