BJP’s populist poll promise hints at nervousness: Netizens

BJP leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah has been repeating that farmers will not have to pay electricity bills for five years if Yogi Adityanath is re-elected in the ongoing UP polls. The promise is populist in nature.

There is a feeling among many Netizens that the BJP may be nervous that it might not cross the half-way mark in the crucial state and that’s why its leadership is appeasing farmers. “This promise is unbecoming and dangerous. Is the BJP so desperate that it made this harmful promise?” a Netizen asked.

Only two phases of polling are over so far. There are five more phases. BJP is going strong in Awadh and Bundelkhand. But its prospects are believed to be shaky in Purvanchal.
