Ben Stokes, England Test Captain and superstar all-rounder has bowed out of 50 over One Day international Cricket with a loss. He will play T20’s and Tests from here on. England played South Africa for One Day International on Tuesday at Chester-le-Street, England.
South Africa batted first and Janneman Malan and Rassie van der Dussen put up 109 runs partnership for second wicket after losing Quinton de Cock at 35. Janneman Malan scored 57 runs. Rassie went on to score a century. Aiden Markram played a good hand along with Rassie and scored 77 runs off 61 balls. SA scored 333/5 in their 50 overs.
Rassie became the top scorer with 134 runs from 117 balls. He has become the important cog that helped SA innings wheel to reach the score. England did not look like being able to successfully chase the target.
Jason Roy scored 43 and Johnny Bairstow scored 63. Both of them scored 102 runs in 19 overs. They both struggled against the SA bowling as they have been known to score faster than this. They seemed to be determined to score runs as they have failed against India in the recently concluded series.
Ben Stokes failed in his final ODI innings by scoring only 5 runs. Joe Root came back into form by scoring 86 runs off 77 balls. England ended up not completing 50 overs again by scoring 271 runs from 46.5 overs. SA won the match by 62 runs. Stokes looked emotional and completely exhausted as well. He wishes to play 150 Tests as James Anderson, Stuart Board.
